Places you can't afford to miss in Mumbai!

1) Marine Drive


Marine Drive, also known as the Queen’s Necklace is the heart and soul of Mumbai. This place has witnessed all sorts of emotions, happy and sad moments, first and last moments. It’s a 3-kilometer-long stretch near the sea along the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Road. The place provides an exotic view of the Arabian Sea and Skyscrapers. Witnessing sunrise and sunsets at Marine drive is the treat for all Mumbaikars and the tourists. People come here, sit and enjoy the peace and hear the sound of the waves of water coming from the rocks. At the end of the stretch, there is a popular Chowpatty that offers some yummilocious street food like Vada Pav, Bhel Puri and Pav Bhaji. This iconic place has also been the shooting point for Bollywood. Scenes of films like Dhoom, Muqaddar ka Sikander and Munna Bhai have been shot here.


2) Gateway of India

Located next to the iconic Taj Mahal Palace and facing the vast Arabian Sea, the Gateway of India leaves you spellbound in every way possible. It was built in 1924 by George Willet to honor the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Mumbai. The best time to visit the Gateway of India is early morning or late evening when you can enjoy the cool sea breeze; be ready to get mesmerized by the beauty of the setting sun and the peaceful sound of waves. Take a ferry ride offered here to experience a stupendous view of this monument right from the sea and you can also visit other main attractions nearby.


Some of the places you should visit around the Gateway of India include shopping and hopping at the Colaba Causeway, satiating your hunger at some delish eateries like the iconic eatery named Baghdadi, Kebabs at BadeMiyan, and Cakes at Olympia Coffee House. Don't forget to visit the enigmatic and ancient Regal Cinema and Movie Theatre feel as if you have traveled back in time after stepping inside it. Its alluring interiors and design fascinate onlookers to date. With time the theatre premises in itself has become a significant heritage of Mumbai, it was the venue for the third Filmfare Awards.


3) Elephanta Caves

Elephanta Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located 10 km away from Gateway of Mumbai through sea link. There are all kinds of boats from ordinary to luxury and takes up to half an hour to reach the site from the Gateway of Mumbai. The place offers Indian sculpture art and rock-cut cave temples. There are principally seven caves where one can investigate the real excellence of ancient Indian architecture. There are a few highly-finished rock surfaces in Elephanta Caves; however, some are stark untreated rocks too.
